THE RACE

Oxford Cambridge Lightweight Boat Race, founded 1975

The Lightweight Boat Race, between the universities of Oxford and Cambridge was founded in 1975 by Richard Bates of St. John's College, Cambridge and raced over 2000 meters in Henley on Thames until 2018. For the first time, on 23rd March 2019 the race was held on the Tideway in London over the same Championship Course as the open weight University Boat Races.

The 2022 races are back on the Tideway in London

SPECTATORS

Spectators are welcome to come to join us at London Rowing Club from 12:30 on Sunday 20th March.

The Club bar will be open with the balcony providing the best view of the start and live screens showing the whole races. The prize ceremony will be held at LRC after the races.
